IDC released findings from its “Chilean Global Services Industry Observatory” report, indicating growth of more than 100% in 2008. Looking at business processes that account for the global services revenue, the report finds:

Approximately 50%  – Engineering and application development 

45% – Knowledge process outsourcing (KPO)

More than 10% – Innovation Process Outsourcing (R&D), especially for the bio/pharmaceutical industry.

Federico Amprimo, Country Manager of Southern Cone, IDC, stated:

We believe that Chile, and Latin America as a whole, will become an increasingly important outsourcing location as companies in the United States and throughout the world evolve their sourcing strategies and seek competitive advantage through cost effective locations with strong business environments and highly educated workforces.
